最初从事广告事业，凭借一次吃饭时的灵感乍现，写出了第一首歌曲《给开心女孩》。当这首歌成为广告插曲让人熟知时，这位残疾青年立刻引起了点将唱片公司的注意，1987年，被时任点将唱片公司老板的桂鸣玉罗致旗下。
